The race is on to qualify for the Betfred World Matchplay ahead of the sport’s highly-anticipated return to action with the PDC Summer Series.
Following clarification on PDC rankings, all 128 PDC Tour Card Holders have the opportunity to book their place in the prestigious World Matchplay through the Summer Series events, while it has also been confirmed that the player who wins most prize money across the five days will win a place at this year’s Grand Slam of Darts.
Five one-day Players Championship events will take place from July 8-12 behind closed doors at Marshall Arena, Milton Keynes, and will be the last five ranking tournaments to take place before the new World Matchplay cut-off date of July 12.
The world’s top 16 players from the PDC Order of Merit will be seeded for the World Matchplay, and they will be joined by 16 qualifiers from the one-year ProTour Order of Merit.
